Handing Over Shibboleth Support

This is documentation developed at the LSE to aid the handover of supporting the identity provider to institutional IT support after initial installation as part of a project. There are two main parts:

  • What do you need to know about Shibboleth to support it? - a basic Shibboleth presentation for sysadmins (powerpoint) (The presentation includes information about the British/JISC implementation plan for Shibboleth, and transition from our existing Athens service, so these bits may need amending or replacing if you're doing this in another country than Britain -- John Paschoud - 30 Sep 2005)
  • Guide to installation for moving the Shibboleth Identity Provider from a test environment to a production environment
  • How to Diagnose and Fix Problems

The assumption behind this is that there will already be a working Identity Provider which is configured to work with a number of federations, and that reinstallation and support can be simplified because this has already been done. The documentation is based on that used and tested for the handover at the London School of Economics in September/October 2005.
